For Indian sports fans, the previous few months have been nothing short of turbulent. The current ban imposed on the AIFF by FIFA has been the worst blow. The former President’s egotistical behaviour and ineptitude, which turned the AIFF into an inanimate administrative body, are the main causes of this prohibition.
The Authors in their article, titled “The Sporting Wars: From Judicial Activism to Adventurism” analyses the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Rahul Mehra Judgment, which ordered that the elections for an interim body to lead the All India Football Federation (AIFF) be held quickly in accordance with the draught constitution in place. This decision opened the door for the AIFF to be recognised as a legitimate organisation.
